Inclusion Room
The San Pio X nursery school is run by the Congregazione delle Suore Missionarie del Sacro Costato. Its premises in Vittorio Veneto welcome fifty-eight children aged three to six. The school follows the principles of experiential learning, helping children discover the world through play, relationships and direct exploration. Every child has the right to grow up in a welcoming, stimulating environment that values their individuality.
The school’s mission is to teach children the value of welcome and inclusion. This school year, it is the only school in the area to have invested in inclusion by adding a support teacher to its educational team, enabling it to welcome and support families and children experiencing physical and cognitive difficulties. Every family’s story deserves to be heard, cared for and supported. With this in mind, the school wishes to create a new space essential to its pupils’ wellbeing and development.
The Inclusion Room is designed as a refuge where children can feel welcomed while remaining part of a wider world. It will allow them to listen to their emotions, slow down and regain balance and calm in a space tailored to their needs. Open to everyone, it will be particularly valuable for children who need a quieter setting for emotional, sensory or social reasons. The aim is to create a place for all children, where they can build positive relationships with people who are different from themselves.
The school believes that cooperation with the local community can create shared value, helping children grow up with a spirit of sharing, empathy, solidarity and respect for others, and laying the foundations for a more caring and inclusive future community.
